Hourly Salary Calculator

Annual pay is a full year of work. But your time is traded hour by hour. This calculator converts your yearly salary into the hourly, daily, weekly and monthly figures you can actually plan with.

How it works

The hourly rate is found by dividing the annual salary by the total hours worked in a year (hours per week × weeks per year). Daily pay assumes an 8-hour day, and monthly pay divides the annual figure by 12. Adjust the weeks to account for paid holiday and non-working weeks.

Worked example

Example: €45,000/year, 40 h/week, 52 weeks → €21.63/h, €173/day, €3,750/month.

Recommendations

  • Include paid holiday: use 47–50 weeks instead of 52 if you take several weeks off.
  • Compare job offers on effective hourly rate, not just the annual figure.
  • Use your real hours if you work more than the standard 40-hour week.

Tips & advice

  • When negotiating freelance contracts, always compute the hourly equivalent of a fixed price.
  • A salary of €45k vs €50k is only ~€2.40/h at 40 h/week — put the difference in perspective.
  • Recalculate your effective rate after a commute time increase; your time is worth more than the road.
